Hurd Obsession: Joe Russell-Brown

Artist: Joe Russell-Brown
Location: Scunthorpe
Release Date: December 2017
Three Words: Reflective, jangly, nonchalant

This is the title track of Joe Russell-Brown’s debut EP ‘Post-Youth Depression’ – a low-fi indie tune with subdued slurred lyrics and a quiet guitar to leave you wanting more. It’s relaxed and care-free reflecting the story behind the track:

“Post-Youth Depression is a retrospective euphoria of the days you can only appreciate when they’re gone. It’s about friends, living in a shit town and the acceptance of whatever’s to come.”

We’re told the EP was created using a shitty microphone and a laptop in his grandmother’s bungalow. Nice.
