Daily Discovery #18: Deer Scout

Captivatingly sweet vocals deliver deep emotions in DEER SCOUT’s delicate debut EP.

Deer Scout is the project of Dena Miller from Philadelphia. Its raw and simple. Minimal instruments, minimal production, and an incredibly soft beautiful voice. Dena started working on music as Deer Scout in September and Customs, is her debut EP. It features four truly charming tracks that seem to let you in.

Holy Ghost is the first track on the EP. It opens with a relatively sad but hopeful guitar episode, and soon her angelic voice comes in with “Holy ghost I barely recognise you.” One of the most stripped back on the EP, Holy Ghost feels incredibly honest and as if you’re being let into her world. To share in her feelings.

Also on the EP are Little StateUp High, and Train Song. Each one an enlightening part of a heartbreak story. Each as endearing as the last.

The EP was released at the end of May and you can get hold of it here.

Dena is also part of group Little State. Again such delicate pieces with simple production, they’re so easy to listen to. Here’s a cheeky bonus track for the Daily Discovery:
