Daily Discovery #23: Woodes
Sensual vocals with a subtle blend of electronic production and live instrumentation. Float through this stunning release by WOODES.
Woodes is the 23 year old artist and producer Elle Graham from Melbourne. She released a well received EP with Elkkle last year and her single Knives and Daggers gained recognition across many new music blogs earlier this year. Now comes The Thaw. Woodes seems to have stepped up another gear.
The Thaw features her effortlessly soft vocals and is incredibly well produced. Soft guitar, synthesised drum beat and intermittent appearance of percussion create a track which speaks simplicity. It is ultra easy to get lost in. The track is co-produced by Lanks, another Melbourne artist Hurd love.
Her newest release Drifter is another example of electronic brilliance. The same effortless vocals guide you through the track. Lyrics insinuate she’s not in this world: “Wake me up, I know I’m only dreaming” and the layered track completely reflects this.
