Daily Discovery #50: JYLDA
Piercingly high and warmly low, softly withheld and forceful belting; the vocal performance of JYLDA takes you on a ten loop rollercoaster.
It’s not long listening to this track before you realise how incredibly special JYLDA is. Regret sees the embodying of at least four vocal styles and performances in just one person. After the building electronic short intro, it makes way for the bare vocals of Gianna Gehlhar, allowing you to hear the first two styles at the very start. “Hey Hey” is beautifully low with an incredible depth for just two words. Then the next phrase pulls you out of the depths and into the sky with a delicately high “I have turned, I have turned, into a modern human”. The music returns, and the track begins to build. An abrupt ending leaves behind a feeling of astonishment. What a voice.
As the title suggests, the track is about the feeling of regret.
“I cannot rest I have no ceiling.
Wanna know, wanna know that feeling.
No-one can help or know the meaning,
Wanna know, wanna know that feeling.”
JYLDA is from Berlin and she has a number of releases behind her including this electro pop track Unchange Your Mind earlier this year:

Speaking about influences on the sound she creates to Tigmus, JYLDA said:
“I think a lot of inspiration has to come from the inside, though, or it just has to happen along the way when something catches your attention or fascinates you. I find it strange when people do something in order to get inspired. You don’t become an artist by experiencing something interesting. The point is to be able to make something amazing out of things others would consider boring at first, too – changing perspectives”
She also revealed that there are more tracks waiting to be released…
